SPRING COLOR

With Spring giving us a little sneak preview, I thought I would put some flowers up today. What better way to ease the pains of winter than with a little bit of color. While I enjoy the soft grays of winter, I am looking forward to some color. Last year I was unable to work in the garden due to a bad back and old knees. Instead, we planted some pots with pretty plants and enjoyed them all summer.

Certainly this was smaller than my garden, but I enjoyed these plants a lot. The upkeep was much easier on this old body. I look forward to picking out this years plantings.

I hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for dropping by, take care.

  1. Good photos for cheering us up on a winter day. I brought in three coleus slips for the winter and they have gotten so tall can cut the tops off and start three more. I won't have a place for sex so I guess I'll just have to resist.

    1. Oh Lynn, I wish I had taken some slips from my coleus! I remember I thought about it but never did it. Very smart of you to think about it AND do it, lol. And I really loved the one I had last year. Hopefully it will be available this year. Have a great weekend and take care

  3. I am so tired of winter and it's February! I needed that burst of color. I did try to root some coleus last fall, and I'm usually successful in getting a couple of the plants to root and survive indoors over the winter, but not this time.

    1. Coleus is one of the easier plants to root. Too bad yours didn't make it. I'm kicking myself for not rooting mine. Have a great weekeend. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Take care.

  5. Gorgeous. We do potted plants/flowers too. Our house faces north so no direct sun. The planters and pots on the deck love the early morning sun and late afternoon.

    1. Cecilia, I'm pretty short on sunlight too. I get about 2 hours of direct sun, the rest of the time is high shade. I'm always surprised at the amount of color I can get, like the New Wave Petunia. It bloomed so good, I will definitely be growing that one again.

  7. Beautiful! I love the little bird you put in one pot. Let's see, I recognize the Coleus, and is that Petunias? Don't know what the pretty pale pink one is.

    1. Yes, good ID. That's purple Wave Petunia. The light pink is impatience. I don't remember the name of the coleus. I've had that little bird for many years, I love it and like to use it in my pots. Have a great weekend. Take care.

  8. It's so nice to see flowers again. I think the seasons are a blessing and I enjoy each one but Spring is my favorite after living through the cold and snow!

    1. I wish when we were having this house built I had removed the trees. As it is, I don't get much sunlight. But I'm always amazed at how much color I can get in mostly high shade. Thanks for dropping by and leaving a coimment! Have a great weekend.

    2. I understand that for sure. When we look at houses now, we talk about what trees we will keep and what ones gotta go.

  17. Much has been written of late about how plants communicate via mycelial networks and other underground pathways. Are potted plants the equivalent of human prisoners in solitary confinement?

    1. Say it ain't so! Each plant seed must be giddy with the knowledge that they are being cared for with the utmost care. They're given the best soil, watered according to needs, fed the right ingredients babied with loving attention. Planted and surrounded by other beautiful plants. They are the rich in the plant world. Have a great weekend. Take care.

RAINY DAY
