GREAT SPRING-LIKE DAY

Yesterday hubby and I spent 2 hours at the clinic - him getting an iron infusion. His activity level had dropped so drastically he had to have another infusion - this makes 4 so far. He is being treated for Aplastic Anemia and is feeling much better today, I'm happy to report. He's even cooking us breakfast.

Made a trip to Walmart to see what they might have for Spring planting. They didn't have much, but I did buy some potted daffodils, tulips, cyclamen, and hyacinth. I was disappointed they didn't have any pansies or violas. I'll have to try Home Depot.

This little parrot vase belonged to my dear mother. I think it belonged to her mother.

We love sitting on the deck and these flowers make it even more enjoyable. Today my daughter fell through a rotting place in the deck. This is very aggravating because this deck isn't that old and supposedly used pre-treated wood, plus a deck stain, but there are a few places of rot.  I'm just glad daughter only got a scraped leg and didn't break anything or need stitches. We're going to have to figure out how to fix this dangerous situation.

Spring will be here before you know it, sooner for me it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if we got more cold weather. March is generally cold and blustery. I'm told our last frost date is usually in March.

I hope you're having a great day. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. So sorry to hear about your daughter's incident. Wonder how someone could miss lead you on the type of wood to use, unfortunately. I laugh when I read how you are looking for plants already! We get plants here the first of MAY, lol. Our frost end date is May 16. I really enjoy the photo of the fresh flowers on the deck and hope you get lots of time out there.

    1. OH WOW!!! MAY!? I'm glad I can share some spring pictures with you. Our last frost date is early March. I might have to cover some plants if we get a late frost. But that's easy enough. We actually hired someone to build the deck. Apparently they didn't know what they were doing. I think we can cut the bad places out and replace. Give the deck a good cleaning, then look for something that will stop any more rot. Surely there is something.

  2. I'm glad your daughter wasn't hurt. That's frustrating when the deck isn't that old!
I love the parrot vase, especially with the family history.

    1. I'm just glad daughter wasn't hurt more. She would not do well with needing stitches. I'm hoping we can cut out the rotten parts of the deck and replace them. Fingers crossed.

    1. Thank you, Cecilia for your visit and kind words. I do really love that parrot vase. We are so fortunate that Sally wasn't hurt bad when her leg went through the deck. She has a very awesome bruise and some scratches, but that's all.

  6. Oh, what a glory of flowers! Stopping by from Furry Gnome's blog to see what's happening in Georgia, and it looks pretty nice.
I fell through a place on our deck a couple years ago. We knew there were weak places but my husband hadn't got around to fixing them...until my foot went through and I fell forward on my knees. Big ouch but nothing hurt too badly. He fixed it quick after that!

    1. Hello! Glad you liked my flowers. I hope we can get the deck fixed quickly. Going to have to count on my son to do it and he doesn't have much time off from work. Thanks so much for dropping by! Please come again.
