GARDEN DREAMS

When my children were little I took up gardening. It gave me something to do when they wanted to go outside. I started off with a small area beside the driveway. It was a cute little garden and I learned a lot in that year. The next summer I decided to take the garden to the backyard. Every year the border got longer and longer. Then I started tearing up other areas. Before too long, I had 4 gardens! Not all the gardens survived. My shade garden was destroyed when we had to tear up the drain field, which went right throgh the shade garden. Garden C (as I called it), slowly just quit blooming. I tried this and that, but nothing seemed to work in it.But garden A was beautiful and I miss it so much. The kids want me to get it back so this spring I'll be directing them in restoring it.

Pretty Asiatic lilies and coneflowers. Love that lilly and the coneflowers were so hardy.

A distant view of the whole garden. I used lots of impatience, which are the perfect flower for shady gardens. I only get about 2 hours of sun. It's amazing what can be grown with so little light.

I love this side view of the garden. Daisies, yellow daylily, pink phlox. Another Asiatic lily in the background. So pretty. There is also a beautiful white caladium with pink veins that can just barely be seen in the back on the left.

Sadly, as I got older it became harder for me to upkeep the garden. Last summer my daughter decided we should plant pots and I agreed. We had some colorful plants on the deck. The little plant in the front with tiny leaves it still living. I brought it in when cold weather came. though it held it's on in mid 20's. But when the temps were going to drop to low 20'a I was afraid that might be too cold. I love this little plant. It looks a lot better now, it's filled out some. This summer it should really be pretty.

I love the little variegated draping plant in the front. I don't think it survived the cold :(

I'm excited about getting the garden back to good. With my kids strong backs and good knees we should be able to at least make some progress in a small section. Maybe even more!  I hope you are having a great day. Thanks so much for stopping by.
