This is my favorite sculpture. It's called The Veiled Virgin by Giovanni Strazza. He was an Italian sculpture in the 1800's. I am just amazed how he made this piece of rock look like a veil. Some people are geniuses. I like sculpture in general, but this one really touches my heart.
We're in the big count down now. Not much time left to get those last minute presents and treats. I'm going tomorrow morning to try and finish up. I'm not looking forward to it! I've done all my shopping online this year. But I need stocking stuffers and candy.
I'm so glad you stopped by. I hope you have a great week!

it is wonderful to have a connection to a sculpture like this...it is beautiful!! i picked up stocking stuffers throughout the year and now i have too many things. i only have one stocking to fill!! good luck shopping, hopefully you have good ideas on what you need to get!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea to pick up stocking stuffers all year. I'll give it a try for next year!
DeleteA beautiful sculpture, one of my favorites as well.
ReplyDeleteI am done buying gifts. Everything is packed and ready. M
Not wrapped but in gifts bags, so much easier! The grands who live far away all have their packages, and some have already opened them!
Funny that the gkids have already opened their gifts. I hope you have a merry Christmas. Take care.
DeleteThis sculpture is truly amazing! That he made something so sheer and fragile from stone. The veil over the face is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's his most famous piece. You can hardly find anything else he's done. I hope you have a Merry Christmas! Take care.
DeleteA very beautiful piece of artwork! Luckily we present one another when we see something on the spot but never for Birthdays or Christmas, so, all easy here :-) Good luck - and fun!!! - with your shopping - I always love to get something for a loved one.
