Post Winter Weather

Now that we've had our lovely winter weather and I've had a chance to accomplish my desire to make some pretty icy crafts, it's time to start thinking of the garden in earnest.  Gray and misty is the way of it today and a trip around the garden shows Spring is beginning to push forward, no matter what the calender says. Spring bulbs are not stymied by a covering of snow and their pointy tops have pushed through to begin their journey to Garden Bliss.  February is when things really start rolling around here. Garden clean up and fertilization are the two main chores I tackle. We usually have some really nice, sunny and warm days in February. Until those days come, I'll be spending a lot of time looking at pictures from previous years and trying to figure out how the heck I can get my garden to look like those of my heroes (Candadian Garden Joy, Fortnam Gardens). I don't hold much hope because I've been doing the exact same thing for about 7 years and my garden has changed very little. It has it's moments, but I need there to be more of them!

On a different note, this little wren flew into one of our windows and knocked itself loopy. We found it laying in the snow and brought it into the house. After about 30 minutes it stood and we took it outside and it flew away.  One of our only success stories with injured wildlife.  I now have a little wren coming to my feeder. I know it's probably not the same one, but I like to think maybe it is!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

  1. From the look of the beds, spring can't be far away!

  2. Sweet little wren. So glad you rescued it. I did a little pre-spring clean up in the garden this afternoon - just a bit of puttering.
