TOO MUCH LIKE SPRING

Oh goiodness! I don't like this warm weather we're having here in Georgia. Today we reached a high of 70. Some days we've been close to 80. Daffodils are emerging and today I noticed that my white azalea is sporting buds and a few blooms.

I like winter. I enjoy having cold weather where I get to have a fire in the fireplace. I like wearing sweaters and knitted hats and gloves. I think it's supposed to turn cold again in a week or so. I'll be happy when that happens.

I hope you're having a good week. Thanks for dropping by.

  2. That's crazy! No plants here, there's snow on the ground. But right now, we are having a booming thunderstorm and pouring rain. It's the kind of thunder that shakes the house. So strange for Michigan in January. But, more snow is predicted tomorrow.

  3. I feel the same way! In the winter, I am finally rid of heat and bugs. But now it is like spring. We have been 60, but not as hot as you. I want a proper winter!

  4. Those warm temperatures may be welcome to some, but they do not bode well for the environment. But, don’t worry. Trump says it’s all a hoax anyway!

  5. Even in Michigan it was warm yesterday -- 50 (which is rare for us) and 58 this morning. Temps are due to drop this weekend, but wow. I'm no winter fan but this is just weird.

    1. There are some flowers whose seeds do better when they've froze then unfroze (is that a word?). But this is crazy. I want winter.

  6. Azaleas in January is really something! We are having an exceptionally warm winter thus far on the west coast and I would really welcome some cold frosty weather - even snow.

  8. People who don't garden don't always understand the harm that above average temperatures do to plants. I hope your temperatures return more to normal. I wouldn't mind taking some of the surplus warmth from you, but I can't. Sorry.

  11. This week in the UK it's been cold with many areas having snow but next week the rain returns and of course the weather will feel milder ... don't know how the plants/flowers cope with all these changes!

    Enjoy your weekend.

    All the best Jan

    1. HI Jan! It does seem like some plants are hurt by the thawing and freezing, but some actually need it. I wish for osme more cold weather so I can have a fire.

  12. Wow, those daffodils are waking up early in your neck of the woods! It's so cold here nothing is blooming. Snow has been falling just about every other day. It is nice to sit by the fire, but so cold when I need to go outside. Brrr.

    1. It wouild be hard dealing with the cold. I don't even have a winter coat here, our winters are generally very mild. We'll have a few lows in the 20''s but not many.

  13. I'll take spring any day, not a fan of high power bills, icy roads, no daylight and slipping/falling on icy sidewalks.
