POTATOES AND SUCH

Good Morning! How is everyone doing? I finally got my tree down, but I still have boxes all over the livingroom. I've got to buy a bigger box to put the lights in. I probably  missed my chance to get a rubbermaid at a cheaper price.

My daughter and I are cooking some fried potatoes. Yum, I can't wait for them to get done. It's our favorite treat.

I went to sweet Daniel's funeral and it was very poignant. The service was full of soldiers from his old platoon (I'm not sure if that's the correct term). They played Taps which made my eyes water. All the soldiers stood and saluted while Taps was being played, even veterans stood and saluted. That was very moving.

I hope you're having a good week so far. Our weather people are calling for us to possibly have snow this weekend. I'm really hopeing they are correct!

Nice you were able to attend the service. So sad, I am sure.

    1. We bring the potatoes to a boil in the oil then turn the heat down to 4 for 20 minutes. Then we turn heat to high and cook the rest of the way. They are really good!

  4. Roasted chicken and mashed potatoes on the menu for tonight. Whole chicken was on sale. It will provide a lot of different meals for us.

  9. I think I could eat potatoes in any manner you cared to serve them to me. They are very nutritious, too. For decades, centuries maybe, the entire population of Ireland survived on little more than potatoes. I wonder if they had myriad ways to cook them?

  17. I think I like potatoes any way they are prepared in. Crispy sounds great right now. Daniel's death was indeed tragic. Just my opinion, as someone married to a non combat veteran - too many of us call them heroes with our lips but our actions as a people tells a totally different story. Yes, mental health services are totally inadequate for the tremendous need out there.
