Good Morning! How is everyone doing? I finally got my tree down, but I still have boxes all over the livingroom. I've got to buy a bigger box to put the lights in. I probably missed my chance to get a rubbermaid at a cheaper price.
My daughter and I are cooking some fried potatoes. Yum, I can't wait for them to get done. It's our favorite treat.
I went to sweet Daniel's funeral and it was very poignant. The service was full of soldiers from his old platoon (I'm not sure if that's the correct term). They played Taps which made my eyes water. All the soldiers stood and saluted while Taps was being played, even veterans stood and saluted. That was very moving.
I hope you're having a good week so far. Our weather people are calling for us to possibly have snow this weekend. I'm really hopeing they are correct!
Those crispy potatoes look yummy. Too bad you live so far away, lol.
ReplyDeleteNice you were able to attend the service. So sad, I am sure.
The potatoes were so good. I ate everyone on my plate, which was a lot!
DeleteThose potatoes look so good!
ReplyDeleteMilitary funerals are always so touching. Taps always makes me cry. Glad you could be there.
This was the first military funeral I have been to. It was very moving.
DeleteNow I want to know how you make the potatoes. I can never get them crispy.
ReplyDeleteWe bring the potatoes to a boil in the oil then turn the heat down to 4 for 20 minutes. Then we turn heat to high and cook the rest of the way. They are really good!
DeleteRoasted chicken and mashed potatoes on the menu for tonight. Whole chicken was on sale. It will provide a lot of different meals for us.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a "comfort" dinner! It would go over good with my family.
DeleteThe potatoes look delicious. I always cry at taps too.
ReplyDeleteThe potatoes were delicious. I could eat them every day!
DeleteYour fried potatoes look good.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
They were so good, Jan! You should make yourself some!
DeleteWhen Taps is played it always makes me teary eyed. Fried potatoes with onions always a hit in our house. Janice
ReplyDeleteI bet I would like them with onions. I've never tried it.
Deletei make fried potatoes like that too, they are a household favorite!! yours look yummy!!
ReplyDeleteThey are so good. I could eat them every day. But I do hate peeling the potatoes.
DeleteI think I could eat potatoes in any manner you cared to serve them to me. They are very nutritious, too. For decades, centuries maybe, the entire population of Ireland survived on little more than potatoes. I wonder if they had myriad ways to cook them?
ReplyDeleteI bet they had all kinds of way they fixed them. I have a few ways myself!
DeleteThe potatoes look perfect, and so tasty. I haven't had breakfast yet so my mouth is watering.
ReplyDeleteSo very sad about Daniel.
They were very tasty! One of my favorite breakfasts.
DeleteYou could have some of our snow if you want! We have 6-8" but it's blowing around like mad today. Toronto has 2 feet!
ReplyDeleteI'll take it! That would be fun!
DeleteI haven't had potatoes like this in ages and I love them! This looks just delicious.
ReplyDeleteThey were so good! I'm ready for some more!
DeleteI love the look of your fried potatoes Leslie, they look fantastic. Hearing taps always make me very emotional, especially to do with having to say goodbye to family and old friends. Heartfelt condolences on the passing of Daniel.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise. Daniel was a kind soul. I hung out with his mom today. I could eat those potatoes every day!
DeleteOooooh, those look like tasty potatoes.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace, Daniel. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Fried potatoes are SO delicious! Comforting, too, on a cold day and one where you attended such a sad funeral.
ReplyDelete...potatoes are my go to comfort food!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I like potatoes any way they are prepared in. Crispy sounds great right now. Daniel's death was indeed tragic. Just my opinion, as someone married to a non combat veteran - too many of us call them heroes with our lips but our actions as a people tells a totally different story. Yes, mental health services are totally inadequate for the tremendous need out there.
ReplyDeleteWish I had those potatoes now! I'm hungry!
DeleteLove, love, love me some spuds.
ReplyDeleteFuneral sounds like it was a peaceful one ❤️
Fried potatoes are the best. Wish I had some now! Take care.
