Good morning! Hope all is well in your world today. It's finally turned cold here. First things first, I had my son build me a fire this morning. So nice! I've been pretty lazy lately, ahem, still have my tree up. It only has lights on it. Surely I'll get it down this week. Hopefully today. We'll see. My oranges I bought to decorate the outdoor tree have rotted. Darn it. Perfectly good oranges gone to waste.

I love the tree in the picture below. I love how all its branches lift upwards. It looks really pretty next to the cloudy sky, which is also pretty! This is in the Chick Fil A drive thru line. I get a look at this pretty tree every time I go for CFA, which is more often than I care to admit.

On a sad note, one of my closest friends son was killed by police the other night. He was having a PTSD episode. Previous times when this happened he thought he was back in Iraq. No one knows for sure, and the outcome was tragic. I don't know how, or even if they can, treat PTSD. I know a lot of veterans suffer from it. I wish mental health was better tended to.

I hope you are having a great day. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I always enjoy looking at trees in the winter when you can really see all the branches.
I'm so sorry about your friends son. PTSD is so terrible and I agree that these people need more help.

  3. I am so sorry about your friend's son. Mental health treatment here is pathetic. I love the splendid bare tree. The Chick Fil A line here is always long. They often have people out front taking orders.

    1. Our Chick Fil A is the same, people taking orders outside. Makes it so much quicker.

  4. What a tragic loss of valuable life. My tree is up and still lit and decorated. I think it'll come down soon, but I'll miss the colored lights.

  6. Dear Leslie. I am soooo sorry to read about his death. Sounds like a terrible struggle on top of it that he lived with. So sorry.

My second tree finally came down last week on a rare warm 37F day when I was cleaning and was like, okay, time to take the second one down.

Each year sorta varies on when I get to it or not. One year, I did it on Christmas night.

  7. Wow, Christmas night?! Don't think I've ever been that early. But I've never been this late either.

  9. That tree is handsome. I am deeply sorry to hear about the horrible deaeth of your friend's son. So many don't seem to know how to work with those with PTSD or other mental issues. It is truly a travesty. I'm glad she has a good friend in you -- she will need one.
