Quilt Project

Hello! How's it going?  I've been busy working on my new quilt project and am so happy with how it's going. It's called Rhubarb Crisp, a fall table runner with Sawtooth stars and Flying Geese. It's designed by Jo Morton. I first saw the runner on Pinterest and found that the pattern and directions were in a book called Skinny Quilts II, which I promptly ordered.   I like doing these small projects, something you can actually see the end in a short period of time.  My only problem is my back.  It has been giving me trouble the last month and sitting at the sewing machine for hours is really making it hurt. I am trying to remember to get up and move around often, but by the end of the day I'm walking like I'm 100 years old:)  I've got the stars completed and am working on the Flying Geese -  need about 128 of them.

I hope you're having a great Wednesday, thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love what you are doing. Makes me remember when I used to quilt. I guess you'll just have to take a few more breaks so your back doesn't hurt...do you use a lumbar cushion or an adjustable chair like one to use while on the computer?

    1. Thanks Balisha (what a pretty name!). I've been doing the little 8 inch crazy quilt squares for so long, I hadn't done this kind of quilt in ages. I'm really enjoying it, it's bringing back such lovely memories...I used to load my sewing machine and the kids in the car and go to my girlfriend's house. We would sit and work on our quilts together while the children played. That was 20 years ago! I've just been using a regular office type chair that rolls. I guess I don't sit back while I'm sewing. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks Sonia! I had so much fun picking out the fabrics for this little piece. I love the colors of fall and it was a a lot of fun to look for the browns and reds and oranges. I had to go to several different places though, not everyone has their fall colors yet. The grouping in my post is about half the fabrics I ended up with.

  3. Leslie girl talk about boundless energy ? !!
This is amazing .. I have never made anything even close to a quilt, but I so admire them and those who make them .. you really have to have such patience to create such beautiful things ... looks like you are doing so well with it too!
That vine you were talking about, that you saw in my pictures .. yes it can be naughty but not that bad really .. and the smell it has reminds me of my childhood some where I must have played with it or something to bring that scent out .. I love it !
I do keep an eye on it too though .. so being up north does help keep it in check as well .. phew !
I understand what you are talking about when it comes to your back .. I spent too many hours in the garden lately and mine is complaining BIG time .. I too try to remember to break what ever pose I am in and walk it out .. it is rotten getting older and having all of these body break downs ? haha
