A little wreath making has been the goings-on around here lately. I really love this leaf wreath, though it was a bit more involved than the just-string-them-on-a-wire leaf wreath I made the other day. But what a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. A bit on the cool side, so I had on my coat, but I was also drinking a cold cola, so it must not have been too cold! I made the base for the wreath out of honeysuckle vine. Just a few wraps was all I needed. I also found some muscadine vine and made a base for another project. I delighted in the antics of some playful little birds, and of course the squirrels were here and there, running through the trees. I could hear a Red Tailed Hawk, but never saw him. Our autumn has been so dry that the trees are still holding on to their leaves . The very best time to be outside is in the late afternoon, just before the sun starts going down. Everything glows and peace and contentment fill my heart.
I'm joining the fun at Mosaic Monday at The Little Red House and A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you've had a lovely day!

ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful wreathe and wonderful photography ~ (A Creative Harbor) ^_^
ReplyDeleteI love that fern, it looks to have a longer vase-life. Wreaths are temperate country traditions, we don't normally do them here with leaves because they will wither so fast in our heat. But we make wreaths of flowers for the dead, putting little plastic with solutions at the base to prolong the flowers' lives.
ReplyDeleteHighly beautiful wreaths!
ReplyDeleteVery creative post. I love the wreath. See you next week.

What a pretty project for Fall!
ReplyDeleteLeslie this is absolutely beautiful ! Some day I am going to do a few wreaths like this as well they are just so pretty and so special when you make them out of your own garden plants.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the veronicastrim .. this one is the standard and yes they have very pretty twisted cone like flowers .. and if you keep cutting them back as the flowers age , they will bloom again . I have another one that I just planted this year in a beautiful blue/lavender colour so I am looking forward to seeing it bloom next year too.
The rock stack is called an Inukshuk .. northern natives made them as place markers so travelers would have an idea where they were and that there were other people who passed by.
This one is glued together and made out of resin so I can't mess it up ? LOL
Joy : )
Joy, I'll look for one of the veronicastrim, they sound wonderful. I'm thinking they can take some shade. Now I REALLY love your rock stack! I just thought you found some cool rocks and stacked them, which I thought was really awesome, but knowing they have historical meaning makes them so much more stupendous!
